infos:
The Perceptions 'an all-star band made up of the UK's finest Funk artists!

Long time friends Neil Robinson (drums), Gary Crockett (bass), John ´Wilma´ Willmott (sax and flute), and legendary latin percussionist and band leader Snowboy formed The Perceptions to express their mutual love of the late-60´s.

Enlisting the talents of Speedometer band-leader, Leigh Gracie on guitar and the amazing young Italian jazz recording artist Sam Gambarini on Hammond Organ, the band is now complete.

The musical genius and passion displayed on this, their debut masterpiece album 'Introducing..', is something wonderful to behold! With a family tree that includes core members of The James Taylor Quartet, The Sound Stylistics, Speedometer, Lisa Stansfield, Incognito, Mark Ronson and The Superphonics (and of course Snowboy!) the band have put in a world-class performance as only the most experienced Funk Specialists can. They have delivered an album of original, tough, hard, uncompromising Tenor Sax and Organ-led Funk Jazz, typical of Prestige and Blue Note (a sound which takes in touches of Blues and James Brown too).

tracklist:
A1. Ride On Time (R.E.M.I.X. By Rutger ''Rutti'' Kroese) - 6'23
A2. Love Sensation (original version) - 6'33

B1. Hit 'N Run (special remixed version) - 11'07

infos:
"Love Sensation" is a 1980 song performed by R&B singer Loleatta Holloway, taken from her album of the same name. The song was produced and written by Dan Hartman, arranged by Norman Harris, and mixed by Tom Moulton. It was a hit on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart, where the song spent a week at No. 1 in September 1980.

Originally, Hartman envisioned either Bette Midler or Patti LaBelle as singing "Love Sensation". However, after seeing Holloway perform at a nightclub, he approached her instead to sing the vocals. In various interviews, Holloway recalled that Hartman had her perform the song 29 times over a two-day recording session. She lost her voice as a result, and only recovered by putting Vicks VaporRub in her coffee.

Since the rise of the remix culture during the 1980s, "Love Sensation" has been heavily sampled with large portions of the song incorporated into other works. The original 1989 release of "Ride on Time" by Black Box sampled Holloway's "Thank you baby, 'cause you're right (sic) on time" lyric before a rerecording as well as instrumental portions by the Salsoul Orchestra, and Hartman received writing credit.

Having received critical praise from a variety of publications, the album is regarded as not just one of Mayfield's best works but also as a classic release of the '70s soul era, with Allmusic critic Bruce Eder stating that "the album soars on some of the sweetest and most eloquent... soul sounds heard up to that time". The album became a commercial success as well, hitting the #6 slot on Billboard's Top R&B Albums chart.

All songs written and composed by Curtis Mayfield, except as noted.

In 1999, Rhino Records re-released the album with four bonus tracks including a demo version of "Underground" and single edits for "Get Down', "We Got to Have Peace" and "Beautiful Brother of Mine".

Behind the “Wizard Performances” project actually hides the French label: @tradviberecords
Founded in 2005 to give a chance to promising young artists, Trad Vibe did not take long to make itself known by signing producers such as Suspect, Moar, Mr Hone or even the very prolific Yann Kesz.
The latter even released the label's first success with the puzzling 45rpm "Breaks Capture", considered by some to be the greatest of the small records of 2007.

What all these artists have in common: a love of music and an overflowing creativity that drives them to all styles, from electro to hip hop, including jazz, funk and soul.

“Wizard Performances” concentrates the know-how and hard work of seven activists from the new school of French beatmakers. Due to its eclecticism, this Ep will delight both fans of old school breaks made in New York, and true fans of aerial hip hop with an electro-psychedelic tendency.

. Robert Wilson (1956-2010) - Bass, guitar, percussion, vocals

infos:
"Party Train" is a 1983 song by The Gap Band, released on their seventh album, Gap Band V: Jammin'. It peaked at #3 on the R&B charts. The original release had "I'm Ready (If You're Ready)" on the A-side and "Party Train" on the B-side. Later, "Party Train was placed on the A-side, and a special dance mix was placed on the B-side.

The song's music video starts with the three Wilson brothers driving onto a crowded boardwalk. It then cuts to random people dancing in a boxing ring. During this segment, it periodically cuts back to other people on the boardwalk and beach dancing, including Charlie wading in the ocean water in a speedo. The video ends with an unidentified person filling in a giant yellow ballot (which says "fill in the gap" at the bottom) and selecting "Gap Party" over "Democratic Party" and "Republican Party". Charlie is then tackled and falls into the water.

Body Music, Afro Funk's 1975 LP, was recorded and released in London. The band was comprised mostly of West-African expatriates residing there. At the time, the city was host to a vibrant African music scene. The massive success of Osibisa created a swarm of young bands trying to use London as a launching pad for international stardom.

Unfortunately, Afro Funk did not find the success they were looking for and Body Music became their only album. The deep funk grooves and driving afrobeat rhythms featured on this rare LP have made it a desired addition to record collections around the world.

This Boot Is Made for Fonk-N is the fourth album by the funk band Bootsy's Rubber Band. It was released through Warner Bros. Records on June 1, 1979. Unlike previous albums by Bootsy's Rubber Band, this album did not generate any hit singles.

The album was more experimental in nature than previous efforts. It would also mark the last time that the name "Bootsy's Rubber Band" would be used on a Bootsy Collins related project until the 1982 12" single release "Body Slam".

This Boot Is Made For Fonk-N peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and number 52 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

The album's cover was drawn by P-Funk album artist Overton Loyd and included an 8-page comic book entitled "The Almost Finished Comic" also drawn by Loyd.

The album was produced by George Clinton and Bootsy Collins under the aliases Dr. Funkenstein and Starr-Mon.
